Research and our own experience point to four biggest barriers. Bình An exists to remove each one.
Language barrier
Medical and social-service forms are almost always in English. Elders often cannot fill them out alone.
No insurance
Many who qualify never enroll in Medi-Cal or CalFresh because the application process is unfamiliar.
No transportation
Elders and new arrivals often cannot drive themselves to a clinic or government office.
Lack of trust
Fear of losing face, fear of paperwork leaking, or past services that ignored their culture. We listen and respect.
The largest Vietnamese community outside Vietnam
Over 200,000 Vietnamese live in Orange County — and many still cannot reach healthcare because of language, paperwork, and fear. Bình An exists to remove each barrier, right here in Westminster.
